Our mission is to empower the underserved community through the creation of handmade goods. We foster creativity by hosting an array of engaging workshops, where members can learn diverse crafts such as crafting handmade winter headbands, plastic stress balls, and cozy blanket quilts, among others. These meticulously crafted goods serve a greater purpose as they are compassionately collected and donated to numerous nonprofits across Gainesville.
But our mission doesn't stop there. We aspire to be more than just a support system; we aim to be a sanctuary for our members, offering them a tranquil space to unwind. We believe in nurturing not only their crafting skills but also their overall well-being, ensuring that each person leaves our space feeling inspired, appreciated, and invigorated.
Crafting Care is a remarkable arts-in-medicine community initiative, proudly established in the heart of Gainesville, FL, and operating under the esteemed banner of Equal Access Research.
Since our launch in January, 2023, we have united passionate members who share a common goal: to create and give back to those in need. Through the skillful art of crocheting, we have handcrafted and donated over 100 winter headbands to the compassionate organization, Blossoming Butterfly, dedicated to supporting individuals facing unexpected cancer diagnoses. Additionally, we have extended our care to the Gainesville Child Advocacy Center and Shand's Children’s hospital, where 40 stress balls and 80 worry worm sensory toys have brought moments of relief and comfort to young.
As part of our commitment to sustainability and the environment, Crafting Care takes pride in our contribution to reducing plastic waste. We have ingeniously transformed recycled plastic bags into renewable stress balls, providing a positive impact on both the planet and the lives we touch.
Our dedication to artistic expression and community engagement culminated in a memorable showcase last April, 2023. Our talented members crafted a crochet-curated outfit, captivating hearts and minds with their creativity and passion.
